Description of Impact(s) (English Only) The Ministry of the Environment, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan have initiated a revision of the 2015 Action Plan for Prevention of Damage from Alien Species in order to integrate - among others - the Kunming Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework targets and findings from the IPBES Global Assessment Report as well as the IPBES Invasive Alien Species Report and to implement the National Biodiversity Strategy 2023-2030 which calls for the implementation of measures that contribute to the prevention and reduction of negative impacts of invasive alien species, the enhancement of measures against invasive alien species, and the strengthening of management systems in order to realize nature positive and restore the health of ecosystems.

Members of the Study Group established to lead this revision process have indicated their intention to ensure uptake of these IPBES reports at national level to further understanding of the issue linked to the emergence and spread of invasive species.
