Quentin Groom

Senior Researcher
Meise Botanic Garden
I am passionate about plants, in my early career I studied plant physiology and molecular biology, but for the past 20 years I have worked on bringing together information technology and botany. I recognized early on that the internet is the future of data dissemination and science communication and it still offers many new opportunities.
I am a strong advocate for open science and scientific collaboration. Through various projects and publications I have encouraged data sharing and informed data management. However, I’m a strong believer in working on topics of high impact, but not necessarily for high impact factor. It is clear that good ideas are only valuable if people know about them, which is why I am also a fan of science communication.
