John Agard is Professor of Tropical Island Ecology at the University of the West Indies. His research interest is in the field of sustainability science involving mainstreaming environmental considerations such as biodiversity conservation and climate change impacts and adaptation into the core of policy and national decision making. He is one of the Coordinating Lead Authors in Chapter 5 “Pathways to a Sustainable Future” of the IPBES Global Assessment. Besides IPCC, he has also served as Lead Author or Coordinating Lead Author in IPCC, Millennium Ecosystem Assessment (MA) and UN Environment Global Environment Outlook (GEO).
