Flore Lafaye de Micheaux holds a PhD in Geography (Political Ecology) from University of Lausanne, Switzerland. She also holds Master degrees in Environmental Sciences and Civil Engineering.
Floreās professional career has focused on water and flood management, ecosystem restoration, and environmental policy. She has worked in Ethiopia as a French Cooperation Officer (1997-1999), with the French Ministry of Environment to head units in charge of implementing flood risk policy and water policy in Normandie (1999-2002), and coastal water conservation in Languedoc-Roussillon region, France (2003-2007) and in coordinating regional actions to implement the European Water Framework Directive (2007-2010). She then moved to New Delhi to join the Embassy of France in India as Sustainable Development Counsellor, promoting Indo-French dialogue and partnerships in environment and sustainable urban development, energy and transportation sectors (2010-2014). She recently moved to the IUCN Secretariat as IPBES Programme Officer. She is in charge of facilitating and strengthening the IUCN-IPBES strategic partnership.
