Christian Albert is Professor of Environmental Analysis and Planning in Metropolitan Regions and head of the Planning Metropolitan Futures Working Group at Ruhr University Bochum’s Institute of Geography. His research focuses on advancing theories and methods of landscape and environmental planning to co-generate strategies and knowledge for attaining the goals of sustainable spatial development. In order to integrate most recent environmental data and the perspectives of diverse knowledge holders, he is particularly interested in harnessing novel concepts such as ecosystem services, green infrastructure and nature-based solutions as well as digital technologies to support participatory planning including remote sensing, citizen science and geodesign.
