About
Laura supports the work programme of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) relating to policy formulation and implementation by identifying policy-relevant tools and methodologies, such as those arising from assessments, enabling decision-makers to gain access to them and promoting their further development through multi-stakeholder dialogue and coordinated research and analysis in close collaboration with external partners and other UNEP-WCMC programmes.

Before joining the Centre, Laura worked for five years at the IUCN’s Freshwater Biodiversity Unit in Cambridge, where she led on the identification and delineation of freshwater Key Biodiversity Areas and the ongoing global Red Listing assessment work for freshwater taxonomic groups. Laura has previously worked as Assistant Advisor for Europe at the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands in Switzerland and for the IUCN EU Representative Office in Brussels. She holds an MSc in Environmental Assessment and Management by the University of East Anglia and a Masters in Natural Protected Areas by the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Both degrees built on her Bachelor’s in Politics at Keele University focused on international relations and environmental policy.
