Dear IPBES members, observers and other interested stakeholders,

I am pleased to invite you to participate in an online dialogue meeting for Governments and stakeholders that will be held on 12 March 2025, 1-3 p.m. CET. focusing on the nomination of experts and fellows for the second global assessment of biodiversity and ecosystem services.

You may recall that the IPBES Plenary, in decision IPBES-11/1 approved, among other things, the undertaking of the second global assessment of biodiversity and ecosystem services (second global assessment). Accordingly, calls for nominations of experts and fellows have recently been issued:

  • Experts for the second global assessment (EM/2025/03)
  • Fellows for the second global assessment (EM/2025/04)

The dialogue meeting aims to facilitate and strengthen engagement by Governments and stakeholders in the nomination of experts and fellows for the second global assessment. Sessions will include information regarding the required relevant expertise of nominees and the nomination process and will also provide an opportunity for current and previous IPBES experts and fellows to share their experiences.

Representatives from Governments and observers, as well as any interested stakeholders are invited to register for the meeting using this link: https://www.ipbes.net/second-global-assessment/online-dialogue-on-the-nominations/registration by 3 March 2025. The meeting will be conducted in English only.

For any questions concerning the meetings, please contact the technical support unit on capacity-building at [email protected].

I thank you for your continued support to IPBES.

Yours sincerely,

Dr Anne Larigauderie | Executive Secretary
Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES)
