Description of Impact(s) (English Only) Researchers utilized the IPBES conceptual framework as a conceptual tool to examine and update the understanding of resource meanings and knowledge systems within historically non-sedentary societies. Researchers incorporated the concepts and methodologies outlined in the IPBES framework to analyze the connection between food customs, land knowledge, and resource understandings among non-sedentary peoples in Eurasia, specifically focusing on sturgeon aquaculture facilities in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan.

"This study’s expanded IPBES model meets the call of the IPBES framework for addressing environmental discourse and resource understandings which naturalize categorical distinctions," wrote the paper's authors.
