Description of Impact(s) (English Only) Following the European Elections in 2019, European Union staffers called upon the newly-elected representatives to declare a planetary emergency in light of the IPCC Special Report on Global Warming of 1.5°C and the IPBES Global Assessment, to lead by example in cutting emissions, and leveraging the international standing of the European Union to lead on climate and biodiversity.
