Project to reforest Dry Corridor of Central America and Dominican Republic partially premised on IPBES Report

UN Environment announced a project, funded by the Central American Bank for Economic Integration, to help the dry corridor of Central America and arid zones of the Dominican Republic adapt to climate change, increase sustainable development and reduce emigration through reforestation and landscape restoration. In making the announcement, UN Environment specifically highlighted evidence from the IPBES Regional Assessment of the Americas that shows climate change as the fastest growing driver negatively affecting biodiversity in the region.
