Among topics to be discussed in the nexus report, it would be useful to address the impacts of endocrine disrupting chemicals (such as dioxins, antibiotics, pesticides, etc) used in food production and their associated developmental, neurological, reproductive and other influences on both human and wildlife health. This area appears to have been largely overlooked in the scoping discussion under the first theme on water, despite the fact that their use in food production systems can not only lead to endocrine disruption and reproductive dysfunction in freshwater and marine (as well as terrestrial) wildlife but have also been linked to a range of negative human health outcomes some of which include prostate cancer, obesity, and cardiovascular problems, among others.
