P.C. Abhilash is a Senior Assistant Professor of Sustainability Science at the Institute of Environment & Sustainable Development, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, India and the Global Chair of the Agro-ecosystem specialist Group of the Commission on Ecosystem Management, IUCN. He was trained in sustainable clean-up technologies and restoration ecology from CSIR-National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI), Lucknow. His current research interest lies on climate resilient agriculture, plant-microbe interactions under changing climate, multipurpose remediation of marginal and polluted lands, soil carbon sequestration, pesticide pollution, biomass/biofuel production from marginal and polluted lands, nanoparticles in soil system and adaptive soil management. He is also interested in the formulation of suitable policy frameworks for sustainable agriculture, land degradation and restoration and biomass/biofuel production. Currently he is involved as a Lead Author (LA) of the 'Asia-Pacific Regional Assessment on Biodiversity & Ecosystem Services' and ‘Thematic Assessment on Global Land Degradation and Restoration' launched by United Nations-Intergovernmental Platform for Biodiversity & Ecosystem Services (UN-IPBES), Bonn, Germany.
He is on the board of several international journals namely Scientific Reports (Nature Publishing Group), Biomass and Bioenergy (Elsevier), Agronomy for Sustainable Development (Springer), Restoration Ecology (Wiley), Biodegradation (Springer), Environmental Management (Springer), PLOS One (PLOS), Energy, Ecology & Environment (Springer), Frontiers in Bio-engineering & Biotechnology and Frontiers in Environmental Sciences (Frontiers) and serving in the capacity of Associate Editor, Academic Editor, Co-ordinating Editor, Review Editor and Editorial Board Member. He is also serving as a frequent reviewer for several journals from Elsevier, Springer, Wiley, Royal Society etc.
