Dr. Pankaj Kumar joined IGES, Japan, since April 2018 as senior policy researcher in the field of water resources and climate change adaptation. Prior to this, he worked as JSPS/UNU-IAS postdoctoral fellow in United Nations University, Institute for Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS), Tokyo; for more than three years. He has more than 13 years of research work experience in the field of water resource management. Recently his research work focused on ‘Water quality assessments and scenario modeling for clean water environment in South-East Asian developing cities’ a transdisciplinary work; which aim to enhance community resilience to address growing water demands under global change, and with ultimate intention to give a solution for sustainable water resource management at policy level. His main research interests are Water Pollution and Control Technology; Water-Food-Energy Nexus; Numerical Simulation for Contaminant Fate and Transport; Global Change and its Effect on Water Resources; Sustainable Water Resource Management; and Transdisciplinary Scientific Research. He holds doctoral degree majored in Geo-Environmental Science from University of Tsukuba, Japan. In parallel, he has work experience for both the Fifth and Sixth Assessment Report (AR5 and AR6) of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) in the capacity of Chapter Scientist and Contributing Author respectively. He has numerous research publications including several peer reviewed journal articles, book chapters of international repute, national and international conferences and a monograph to his credit.
