Her main focus of research are (1) the ecological factors that determine the success of introduced species, (2) the description of macroecological patterns of invasion, and (3) the analysis of the ecological impacts and risks of biological invasions. Prof. Vilà is president of the European Working Group on Biological Invasions (NEOBIOTA) and member of the Scientific Forum for the EU Regulation on IAS. She has had constant competitive national funding and has participated in many EU funded projects (e.g. EPIDEMIE, ALARM; DAISIE, COST action AlienChallenge) and contracts (e.g. ENV.B.2/ETU/2014/0016). She has organized many Scientific conferences and workshops. With >160 ISI publications, 7 edited books, > 40 book chapters, > 30 papers for the general public she is among the top 1% of researchers for most cited documents in the Ecology/Environment in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017.
