About
I am a wildlife biologist by training. I have worked for the CITES Secretariat, based in Geneva, Switzerland, since 2001. I am currently the Chief of the Secretariat’s Scientific Services Team.
I acquired broad expertise in wildlife conservation and trade issues as Director of TRAFFIC Europe, consultant to the European Union and scientific representative of Belgium in many international wildlife trade fora. I was based in Kenya from 2007 to 2011 to coordinate a large CITES elephant conservation programme. Throughout my career, I developed initiatives and undertook activities in support of sustainable, legal and traceable trade in a wide range of species of wild fauna and flora.
