We need a 70% increase in food production by 2050 with several constraints

  1. finite arable land
  2. yield plateaux for major crops
  3. increasing cost of energy, nutrients and emissions.
  4. water scarcity in key regions.

Biodiversity decline.

Current systems of land use are being disrupted by a changing climate.

A second challenge assessment of global soil carbon  in developing and emerging countries.
