IPBES 6 Media Accreditation
Media Registration Protocol
The sixth session of the IPBES Plenary (#IPBES6), to be held at the InterContinental Hotel Medellin, Colombia, will include a number of elements of likely interest that will be open to accredited media:
Official Opening Ceremony:
Saturday, 17 March 2018, 17:00-19:30 (time subject to change)
Media Conference Launching four IPBES Regional Assessments:
Friday, 23 March 2018, 08:00-09:30 (time subject to change) – Will also be webcast live
Media Conference Launching IPBES Assessment of Land Degradation and Restoration
Monday, 26 March 2018, 08:30-09:30 (time subject to change) – Will also be webcast live
No other sessions of #IPBES6 will be open to the media. The working language of the IPBES secretariat is English, although every effort will be made to translate and interpret #IPBES6 communications in Spanish as well.
There are two kinds of media accreditation available for #IPBES6: Site (for those who wish to attend the opening ceremony and/or media conference/s in person) and Online (for those who wish to receive advance access to the media materials under strict embargo following their approval by the Plenary but before the start of the media conference/s). Please note: neither category includes the other - you must specifically indicate if you wish to receive both kinds of accreditation by choosing Site accreditation and Online accreditation.
Attention: By selecting ‘Online Accreditation’, you are agreeing to accept and abide by the date and time of the embargoes that will be placed on the respective materials – this means you agree to neither publish, air nor circulate any of these materials in any form prior to the embargo being lifted. Failure to adhere to these conditions will result in journalists or media outlets being excluded from future embargo arrangements. Please note that the contents of all embargoed materials will be subject to change and must be checked against the final versions.
Members of the media are required to have a valid press card, or a valid media accreditation badge for any duty station of the United Nations. If you do not have a press card (e.g. you may be a regular blogger but not a formal media employee), please instead submit a recent sample of your work in a subject area related to the work of IPBES.
Please ensure that you have scanned copies of your media credentials/sample ready when you start filling in the form as the system will not allow you to proceed without uploading these. Credentials/samples should be uploaded as a single file (PDF).
If the IPBES media team approves your registration application, you will receive an email with further information. Please note that due to the high number of requests, this may take a few days.
The deadline for Site accreditation is 9 March 2018.
