Media Registration Protocol

The Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) invites you to apply for media accreditation for the sixth session of the IPBES Plenary (#IPBES6) – to be held in Medellin, Colombia from 17-26 March 2018.

Representatives of the 128 IPBES member Governments are expected to approve five major new IPBES assessment reports – prepared by more than 550 leading international experts from more than 100 countries over three years at a cost of more than US$ 6 million.

Together these scientifically peer-reviewed reports are the single most important expert contribution of the past decade to global and regional knowledge about biodiversity and ecosystem services. For more details about the reports and what they are expected to cover, go to https://goo.gl/2kVxJs

There are two kinds of media accreditation available for #IPBES6:

  • Online’ (for those who wish to receive advance access to the media materials under strict embargo following their approval by the Plenary but before the start of the media conference/s) and
  • ’Site’ (for those who wish to attend the opening ceremony and/or media conference/s in person).

To apply for accreditation, please go to: https://www.ipbes.net/media/accreditation

Please note that the working language of the IPBES secretariat is English, although every effort will be made to translate and interpret #IPBES6 media communications into Spanish as well.

There are a very limited number of complimentary rooms at the venue (Intercontinental Hotel, Medellin) available to support international media attendees – please enquire once you have been accredited if you wish to be considered for one of these.
