#IPBES9 Media Registration Protocol

Please use this form to register for media accreditation for the two media launches during the ninth session of the IPBES Plenary (#IPBES9). The launches will be held as hybrid events: You can attend either virtually or in-person on the UN Campus (Langer Eugen Room 2312), Platz der Vereinten Nationen 1, 53113 Bonn, Germany.

All accredited media representatives will automatically receive online accreditation. This means that you will receive media materials via email, under strict embargo, following the approval of each of the two Summaries for Policymakers by the IPBES Plenary, but before the start of the media launches. You will also receive the access information to attend the virtual media briefing via Zoom webinar.

If, in addition, you would like to attend in-person, please note that there are two separate media launches for which you can register:

  1. The Sustainable Use of Wild Species Assessment Report (“Sustainable Use Assessment”)
    Media launch: Friday, 8 July 2022 at 13:30 CEST/7:30 EDT/12:30 UK BST

  2. The Assessment Report on the Diverse Conceptualization of the Multiple Values of Nature and its Benefits (“Values Assessment”)
    Media launch: Monday, 11 July 2022 at 14:00 CEST/8:00 EDT/13:00 UK BST

No other sessions of #IPBES9 will be open to the media. Please note that due to COVID restrictions, the number of journalists permitted in-person at the venue will be very limited. Therefore, it may not be possible to grant in-person access to all ‘Site’ accredited parties, and a sudden worsening of the pandemic situation in Bonn or in Germany could result in changes to on-site access. Thank you, in advance, for your understanding.

Attention: By accrediting you are agreeing to accept and abide by the date and time of the embargo that will be placed on the respective materials. This means you agree to neither publish, air, nor circulate any of these materials in any form prior to the embargo being lifted. You may approach third parties for comment during the embargo period but only if they agree, in turn, to abide by the same restrictions. Failure to adhere to these conditions will result in journalists or media outlets being excluded from future embargo arrangements. Please note that the contents of all embargoed materials will be subject to change and must be checked against the final versions.

Members of the media are required to have a valid press card, or a valid media accreditation badge. If you do not have a press card (e.g., you may be a regular blogger but not a formal media employee), please instead submit a recent sample of your work in a subject area related to the work of IPBES.

Please ensure that you have scanned copies of your media credentials/sample ready when you start filling in the form as the system will not allow you to proceed without uploading these. Credentials/samples should be uploaded as a single file (PDF).

If the IPBES media team approves your registration application, you will receive an email with further information. Please note that due to the high number of requests, this may take a few days.

The deadline for applications for ‘Site’ accreditation to attend in-person is 13 June 2022.
