Stakeholder survey
The IPBES stakeholder engagement strategy, approved by the Third IPBES Plenary (Annex 2 to Decision IPBES-3/4 - Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, Spanish ), recommended the use of surveys to improve stakeholder engagement.
The aim of this survey is to better understand current stakeholder engagement with IPBES, compare the results to those of the 2016 survey, and elicit stakeholders’ suggestions for improving IPBES stakeholder engagement.
Results will help, for instance, to better align communication and outreach, and to strengthen collaborative processes.

Who should complete the survey?
IPBES Stakeholders should complete the survey. Stakeholders are all organizations and individuals, which can act as both contributors to and end-users of the Platform and which are not member States of IPBES.
This survey is not addressed to the Governments, which are members of IPBES, nor to their National Focal Points.
When will the survey run?
The survey will run from 4 May 2020 to 4 June 2020.
How can I participate?
An email will be sent out to all stakeholders on May 4th. Should you want to receive a link, kindly register on the IPBES website as stakeholder https://ipbes.net/stakeholder-registry
How long will it take to complete the survey?
Completing the survey should take approximately 10 to 15 minutes.
Is the survey anonymous?
Yes, the survey is anonymous. Your answers will be kept in a strictly anonymous manner.
Is the survey confidential?
Yes, the survey is confidential. Your answers will be managed in a strictly confidential manner.
How will the data be used?
The data will support implementation of IPBES stakeholder engagement strategy, by enabling us to understand current stakeholder engagement, compare the results to those of the 2016 survey and elicit your suggestions for improving IPBES engagement towards stakeholders, as well as stakeholder engagement to IPBES.
Will the results be made available?
The results will be provided to the 8th session of the IPBES Plenary, following which they will be made publicly available.

Will the survey data be available to external researchers?
Yes, the survey data (excluding all personal data) will be available to external researchers to be used for public, non-commercial research purposes. Further information regarding procedures to access the data will be released following the conclusion of the survey.
